Privacy notice

As of November 2026

5ive Paws is a game for iPhone. You play against the computer or with two players on one iPhone without signing up. Data is only sent to our server if you take part in duels over the internet – and even then only what is needed for that.

2. Visiting this website

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising tools and loads no content from third-party servers (the font is hosted on our server too).

When a page is requested, our hosting provider necessarily processes access data: IP address, time, requested address, amount of data transferred, referring page, browser and operating system. This serves secure operation and protection against attacks (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The provider deletes these logs automatically after a few weeks.

3. Hosting

The website and the duel server are hosted on a rented server of IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, in a data centre in the EU. IONOS processes the data on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR).

4. The app on your iPhone

Your progress (points collected, selected and purchased themes, the access data of your duel account) is stored on your iPhone only. The app uses no advertising ID, no tracking and no analytics libraries.

You get the app from Apple (during the test phase via “TestFlight”, afterwards via the App Store). Apple processes the data needed for the download under its own terms and – only if you allow it – crash reports and feedback, which we can then see.

5. Duels

Only when you enter a name for a duel does the server create an anonymous account for your device. The following is stored:

AreaData
Accounta random ID, a random key (only as a hash, never in plain text), the name you chose, your player code (so friends can challenge you), your level (to find a matching opponent), the time you signed up and the IP address at sign-up (against mass-created accounts)
Duelsduel code, type of duel, both participants, chosen teams, line-ups, all moves, result and times
Challengeswhich challenges you dismissed
Reporting and blockingwhose name you reported and when, including your IP address at the time of the report (so that only one report per network counts), and whom you blocked

Who sees what: Your duel opponents and players who are shown your challenge see your name, your level and the course of your duels. So please don't choose your full real name.

Legal basis is providing the features you requested (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR); for the IP addresses and reports, our interest in preventing abuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

6. In-app purchases

You buy themes through Apple. Payment is handled by Apple alone; we receive no payment or account data. Which themes you bought is only recorded in your progress on your iPhone (see 4) and can be restored from Apple after reinstalling via “Restore purchases”.

7. Backups

Every time the server is updated, the duel database is backed up on the server; the last 20 backups are kept. In addition, it is copied every two hours to a separate backup computer and from there stored in my Dropbox storage (Dropbox International Unlimited Company, Dublin, Ireland; Dropbox may also process data in the USA and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). These backups are deleted after 90 days (Art. 6 (1) (f) and Art. 32 GDPR).

8. Retention and deletion

We keep the duel data as long as the game is operated or until you delete your account. You can do this right in the app under “Duell” → “Konto löschen” (delete account), or email us with your name or player code. Your account and all your duels are deleted (from the backups at the latest when they are overwritten or deleted). If you only delete the app, your progress on the iPhone is gone; the account on the server then remains until you write to us.

9. Contact form

If you write to me via the contact form, I process your name, email address and message to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). The details are sent by email to my mailbox at IONOS and deleted once the enquiry is settled and no retention obligations apply. To protect against automated spam, the server stores a pseudonymised short value (hash) of your IP address for at most 24 hours.

10. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Just write to the email address above.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate, Hintere Bleiche 34, 55116 Mainz, Germany.
